Your tasks

We are currently looking for an IT Operations Manager who ensures that IT operations run smoothly, service disruptions are minimized, and the organization’s IT infrastructure supports its business objectives effectively. To be a perfect fit you have a deep experience in the optimization of IT operations, service desk management, international sourcing, and common IT systems prevalent in European commodity trading. Your tasks and responsibilities will be as follows:


  • Manage a 24/7 IT support team (internal/external), optimize staffing, assign tasks, prioritize workload, monitor performance, provide feedback, and drive professional growth.  
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, provide incident updates, generate reports on incidents, resolutions, and team performance.  
  • Identify and implement best practices for IT support processes & tools, develop strategic plans to enhance IT support capabilities. 
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure compliance.
  • Establish best practices, maintain comprehensive documentation, design, implement and regularly review operational standards to align with industry trends and business needs.
  • Define and monitor performance metrics: set KPIs and SLAs to measure IT efficiency and effectiveness, using industry benchmarks for goal setting and continuous performance monitoring.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on performance data, highlighting achievements, risks, and areas for improvement to stakeholders.
  • Serve as the second escalation point for major disruptions, ensuring timely incident resolution and transparent communication with stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration, allocate resources, and take cross-team command during major incidents to restore operations quickly.
  • Support strategic IT decision-making and manage risks to ensure alignment with business objectives and ensure business continuity.
Your profile

Who are we looking for? Someone who’s passionate about bringing Trading IT services back to life in the event of fault and to provide operational services within the highly complex technical world of Energy Trading. Your expertise ensures that our international support team performs effectively and efficiently close to our customers' needs and their complex business processes. Together with your international team of internal and external experts you will help the EnBW Trading department to reduce operational risks. If you have proven experience in the following domains, we should get to know each other:


  • University degree in computer science, business informatics, mathematics or in a related field according to experience. Proven track record of relevant professional experience in IT.
  • Lead and manage diverse, distributed IT support teams in a 24/7 environment. Experience in managing high-pressure situations and coordinating cross-functional teams during crises. Resolve critical incidents, make decisions under pressure, and troubleshoot challenges in the outsourcing process. 
  • Develop and implement long-term IT support strategies with a visionary mindset.
  • Possess deep understanding of IT support operations and relevant frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and service management. 
  • Design and optimize processes for IT service handover and develop strategic plans for outsourcing IT services. 
  • Monitor performance through KPIs & SLAs, manage external vendors, and build strong partnerships. 
  • Negotiate favourable outsourcing agreements; identify and mitigate risks associated with outsourcing, including security, compliance, and operational aspects. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. 
  • Effective communication skills with all levels, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Language Skills: English (mandatory), German is a plus.
  • Knowledge about commodity and energy trading is a plus.

Within its trading business unit, the trading IT acts as a service provider and enabler in providing a broad range of tools, methods, and services to the trading needs.


EnBW Trading is a data driven enterprise, requiring endless information about Trade Lifecycles, Markets, Meteorological Data, Asset Data, Client Insight, etc. It’s Trading decisions are driven by data insights based on flexible solutions to gather, transform, transport, manipulate, visualize and extract data. Most business processes are complex and time critical - operational stability and recovery times are key for business success.


With the Trading Service Hub we offer a 24/7 first and second level IT support specifically for the needs of an international Energy Trading department. With our international team we also offer operational outtasking, perform crisis management in case of larger incidents and provide onsite support in EnBW’s larger Trading offices. With the operational outtasking we will further provide an operational foundation for IT Trading that is reliable, cost efficient and 24/7 all over the year. We plan to cover the complete pipeline from release management and service transition to operational sourcing and service management, offered to all IT services for EnBW Trading.  


The team works remotely most of the time, but we meet regularly at our offices in Karlsruhe, Germany. Paired with our flexible working times and an agile delivery culture, this ensures you work where and when it suits you best.
