Your tasks

Within the IT Trading department, we are currently looking for an Infrastructure as Code Developer – Trading Workbench to join our team. In this role your main responsibilities will be as follows: 

 

  • Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure AWS infrastructure using IaC tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
  • Automate the provisioning and management of AWS resources to ensure consistency and efficiency in deployment processes.
  • Integrate IaC processes into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous delivery and deployment of infrastructure changes.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring and logging solutions to track the performance and health of AWS infrastructure, using tools like AWS CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and ELK stack.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve infrastructure processes, tools, and practices to enhance efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure designs, configurations, and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and ease of maintenance.
  • Provide training and mentoring to team members on IaC practices, tools, and AWS services to build a knowledgeable and capable team.
  • Apply emerging technologies (cloud, data, AI), map industry trends and apply best practices to Data-Backbone Foundation Capabilities
Your profile

Who are we looking for? Someone who is determined, energetic and keen of deep diving in the world of cloud infrastructure. You will be an asset to our team if you have a deep understanding of cloud architecture, IaC and a profound AWS experience. You do not take the given solutions for granted, but always strive to improve the existing stacks of our customers for the better. If you have proven experience in the following domains, we should get to know each other: 

  

  • AWS Knowledge: Proficiency in core AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
  • IaC Tools: Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools like Serverless Framework and Terraform.
  • Scripting and Programming: Strong skills in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and familiarity with programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Rust.
  • Version Control: Proficiency in using version control systems like Git for managing code repositories and collaboration.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools and practices, such as Azure DevOps.
  • Security Best Practices: Familiarity with AWS security best practices, including IAM policies, encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and DataDog.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Automation Mindset: A strong focus on automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Language Skills: English (mandatory), German is a plus.
  • Knowledge in Energy Trading Sector is a plus.
About the department

EnBW is one of the largest energy supply companies in Germany and Europe, supplying electricity, gas, and energy-related products and services to 5.5 million customers. Within its trading business unit, the trading IT acts as a service provider and enabler in providing a broad range of tools, methods, and services to the trading needs.


EnBW Trading is a data driven enterprise, requiring endless information about trade lifecycles, markets, meteorological data, asset data, client insight, etc. Its Trading decisions are driven by data insights based on flexible solution to gather, transform, transport, manipulate, visualize and extract data. 


To support the development of models and trading relevant applications a foundational service - namely Trading Workbench - was created. This service helps with the day-to-day work of developing and providing infrastructure in the cloud by implementing standard stacks which can be used over templating engines. The service is also the first contact point for all cloud related questions. 


The team works remotely most of the time, but we meet regularly at our offices in Karlsruhe, Germany. Paired with our flexible working times this ensures you work where (in Germany) and when it suits you best.
