A wide range of tasks
Legal advice for the trading business is provided by the EnBW Group's legal department. Our central and decentralised colleagues provide advice on all legal issues relating to energy sales and trading. We are an energetic team that enjoys developing the best business models for and with internal clients and proactively developing legally sound, creative solutions. We are team players and close to the business, which is why we are valued and recognised as partners by our colleagues in the business. As the central point of contact for the energy trading division, you will provide comprehensive support on legal projects and complex issues at the interface between energy law and energy trading, including:
- Advising the trading business on all legal aspects of its operational and strategic business, both national and international.
- Advising on trading activities in commodities (including power, gas, hydrogen and H2 derivatives) and the transport of these commodities - power, gas, coal, LNG and transport capacity.
- Drafting long-term contracts, PPAs and related products such as batteries and storage, and direct to market contracts
- Advising on energy market regulation and banking supervisory issues relevant to energy trading
- Trade finance issues
Convincing Profile
- Fully qualified lawyer (m/f/d) in the predicate area
- Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience (PQE) in English law or a common law jurisdiction
- (Initial) international trade experience
- Alongside your legal studies, you have a great curiosity about our internal clients' issues
- You are a go-getter who can drive matters forward. You actively seek contact with your business partners and colleagues. You meet them at eye level and always strike the right, respectful tone
- Your ability to think independently and creatively enables you to develop creative solutions and speak the right language to build bridges between the Front Office and the Legal Department.
- You are enthusiastic about new topics and current developments in the energy sector. You also enjoy working in cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams.
- Fluent in English
- If required, you will also play a governance role, i.e. you will be assertive and authoritative
- Able to instruct and manage external counsel and control the legal budget
- Enthusiastic about energy transition and realising ENBW's net-zero goals
