Your tasks

A wide range of tasks 

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework for the Trading business, including risk governance.
  • Oversee risk identification, quantification, and mitigation strategies across all risk categories (risk inventory).
  • Deliver clear and timely risk reporting to the executive team, trading desks, and board-level committees. Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and limits.
  • Help the business identify and assess operational risks and ensure proper mitigation strategies are in place. Track operational risk incidents and help the business coordinate their resolution
  • Work with our Compliance team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the development of new risk models and methods, partnering with our technology teams on implementation
  • Assist Trading management in the development and update of a risk strategy and oversee the determination of annual risk capital needs for the Trading business.
  • Maintain and enhance risk policies, procedures, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Collaborate with front office, legal, compliance, audit, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated risk management and alignment with business objectives.
  • Represent Risk as a stakeholder in the approval process for new products.
  • Serve as internal coordinator and primary interface for internal and external audits.
  • Act as deputy to the Director of Risk, representing the function in senior leadership and external engagements.
Your profile

Convincing Profile 

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) are advantageous.  
  • 10+ years of experience in risk management within energy trading or financial services.  
  • Deep understanding of energy markets (power, gas, renewables) and risk models.
  • Familiarity with energy and financial market regulation (REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II, MaRisk)
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.  
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills; fluent in English and German

EnBW's Trading business unit is EnBW's central market access point to the energy markets. We are active in key European markets and on international energy exchanges. Our Trading unit is responsible for the optimal management of EnBW's portfolio, is active in the trading of renewable energies and thus supports the Energiewende. We are also involved in future topics such as hydrogen or smart & digital in trading, as well as in new supply contracts and the management of renewable energies. EnBW's Business Unit Trading operates with an international team with employees from more than 30 nations, represented at 4 European locations: Germany, England, Norway, and Switzerland.
